INITIAL PREPARATION FOR AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION SUCCESS, DEPUTY CHIEF OF CIS OBSERVATION MISSION
Baku,24 September,(AzerTAj)First stage of preparation for presidential elections in Azerbaijan has passed successfully in accordance with the existing legislation, Oleg Kuleba, deputy head of CIS observation mission, told Tuesday`s news conference in Baku.
“This proves that the Azerbaijani government is committed to holding free,
transparent and democratic elections” he added.
Kuleba said members of the mission met with governors as well as constituencies and
polling stations in Hajigabul, Salyan, Astara, Lankaran, Lerik, Jalilabad, Davachi,
Khachmaz, Guba, and Gusar regions of Azerbaijan to monitor preparation for the
election.
He also praised measures taken by the country`s Central Election Commission and
public bodies to ensure holding of free, fair and democratic elections.
According to Oleg Kuleba, the mission`s members will soon meet several Azerbaijani
officials, including chairman of the Central Election Commission, Minister of
Internal Affairs and Prosecutor General.
More than 300 observers from CIS countries will monitor the October 15 elections.
First group of them will come to Azerbaijan on October 2. Results of the monitoring
will be announced a day after the elections.
