16th Book fair opens in Bangkok

BANGKOK, October 5 (TNA) - The 16th Book Expo Thailand, aimed at promoting Thais to love reading, was officially opened at Bangkok’s Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre early Wednesday.
Presiding over the opening of the ‘book fair’, Education Minister Woravat Auapinyakul said his ministry will encourage Thai youths and adults to become fanatic readers as more than 400 publishing houses participate in the current fair.
Qualitative books have been selected for every type of readers, he said.
A total of 424 publishing houses nationwide are participating in the 12-day event while it is estimated that about 1.5 million people will attend the fair and sales will amount to 500 million baht.
During the event, Facebook fans are encouraged to post their inquiries about books and magazines online via facebook.com/bookthai. (TNA)
