Thai PM officially visits Myanmar

BANGKOK, October 5 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will pay an official one-day visit to Myanmar on Wednesday, enthused about furthering bilateral ties and cooperation on cross-border narcotics control.
The Thai premier will leave Bangkok for Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, at 1.30 p.m. local time from the royal Thai Air Force’s Wing 6 base. The visit will take Yingluck to meet with Myanmar President Thein Sein for the first time since she assumed her premiership, during which a full-panel meeting with Myanmar authorities will be held.
Apart from boosting bilateral relations, Yingluck will discuss bilateral cooperation on investment, the Dawei deep-sea port project, narcotics suppression along the two countries’ border, issues surrounding border re-opening, and solutions to illegal migrant workers.
Yingluck will also attend an evening reception, hosted by the Myanmar President at the presidential house in the evening. The Thai prime minister and her delegation will return to Bangkok at 11.45 p.m. local time. (TNA)
