Turkish industry minister: trade volume among D-8 countries exceeds 100 bln USD
ISTANBUL (A.A) – October 4, 2011 – Turkish Science, Industry & Technology Minister Nihat Ergun has said that the trade volume among D-8 countries exceeded 100 billion USD in 2010.
It was 66 billion USD in 2009, added Ergun who spoke at D-8 Industry Ministers' meeting in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Ergun expressed hope that the volume would reach 200 billion USD within the next five years.
Noting that Turkey was developing the living standards of people and establishing good relations with other countries, Ergun said that Turkey also wanted to boost commercial, industrial and technical cooperation with D-8 countries which had nearly one billion population and big economic potential and diverse resources.
Ergun said that Turkey's trade volume with D-8 countries had been 2.9 billion USD in 2002, and it reached 20 billion USD in 2010.
Commenting on Turkish economy, Ergun said that Turkey was a good investment milieu for the countries which wanted to open to European market.
Ergun also invited foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Turkey.
