Thai King concerned over flood victims

BANGKOK, October 4 (TNA) - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has expressed his concerns over flood victims in all affected areas across Thailand.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Bangkok-based Siriraj Hospital, Clinical Professor Doctor Teerawat Kultanant, conveyed His Majesty’s concerns over the plight of the flood victims to reporters on Tuesday, as critical inundations have remained in several parts of the country since late July.
Clinical Professor Doctor Teerawat said that His Majesty the King has kept on working and has asked officials to report the updated flooding situation, particularly in low-lying areas along the main Chao Phraya River, to him on the daily basis.
According to the senior physician, Siriraj Hospital, where the beloved Thai monarch has been recuperating, and nearby areas appear to be safe from the country's ongoing flooding crisis, as His Majesty the King's initiated Kaem Ling or Monkey's Cheeks Project has been launched, under which water from upstream areas are drained to a large storage canal near seashore through downstream canals along the way.
