BLOCK CEPU'S INITIAL PRODUCTION SET AT 5,000 BARRELS

Bojonegoro, Sept 25 (ANTARA) - The Banyu Urip oil well in Bojonegoro, East Java, is scheduled to start production on December 10, 2008 with an initial production set at 5,000 barrels a day, deputy manager of development of Mobil Ceput Limited, Dedy Afidick, said here on Thursday.

He said fulfillment of the target of an estimated initial production of 20,000 barrels a day would depend upon the completion of the development of all facilities and supporting means for the oil exploitation in Block Cepu including pipe distribution network and readiness of a mini refinery in Sumengko.

In view of that the initial production of a well has been set at only 5,000 barrels a day, he said. He said production in four other wells was still under preparation and therefore it was predicted the initial production target of 20,000 barrels a day would only be met in the middle of January next year.

"The fulfillment of the target depends upon the readiness of supporting facilities for it. If they are not ready the target will not be met," he said.

According to calculations, around 10,000 barrels would be distributed through a pipe network to Mudi before being transferred to the sea in Tuban, he said.

Meanwhile, he added, more than 6,000 barrels a day would be processed in a mini refinery in Sumengko. "Certainly we are hoping that more than 10,000 barrels a day could be distributed through the pipe network and the mini refinery could process more than 6,000 barrels a day so that the initial production of 20,000 barrels a day could be managed," he said.

The director of Block Cepu's exploration and exploitation, Salis S Aprilian, said the initial production of Block Cepu would be channeled to the Mudi field before being distributed to the sea in Palang Tuban.

He said the mini refinery in Sumengko meanwhile could not as yet be operated because its construction suffered a delay for a month long. "The shipment of its equipment from the US was hindered by Gustav and Nani storms," he said.
