Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A State Honored Sportsman P.Serdamba has defeated his rival at the Amateur Boxing World Championships running in Baku, Azerbaijan. Had a bye at the first contest, he beat against Thomas Essomba of Cameroon at the contest of 49 kg held on Monday. Next day, P.Serdamba will face Ceiber Avila of Colombia.
Among other Mongolians, a State Honored Sportsman U.Monkh-Erdene has defeated his second rival Lyndel Marcellin from Saint Lucia, and then he will fight against an Iranian boxer in the 64 kg contest. N.Togstsogt (52 kg) also beat his opponent from India. Two Mongolians B.Tuvshinbat (69 kg) and S.Erdenebayar (81 kg) have been defeated.

Mongolian wrestlers won medals at international free-style wrestling competitions named after Honored Coach of former Soviet Union Dmitrii Korkin took place October 1-2 in Yakutsk city of the Russian Saha Republic. The competitions attracted wrestlers of some 10 countries. Mongolia was represented by E.Bekh-Ochir (men's 55 kg), D.Tsogtbaatar (men's 55 kg), B.Nemekhbayar, E.Nyam-Ochir (men's 60 kg) and B.Ankhbayar (men's 66 kg). Gold medals were grabbed by E.Bekhbayar and B.Ankhbayar. D.Tsogtbaatar won a silver medal, and E.Nyam-Ochir--a bronze medal. The winner of the each contest received a cash prize of USD 3,000, the runner-up--USD 2,000, and the bronze medalist--USD 1,000. The Mongolians were coached by A.Tserensodnom. Ts.Sereeter and B.Tomorbaatar worked at the competitions as judges.
