ICT Ministry unveils clues to hacking of PM’s Twitter

BANGKOK, October 3 (TNA) - Thailand's Information and Communication Technology Ministry has said it holds several clues leading to a hacker of the prime minister’s personal Twitter account but will not disclose any detail before the investigation ends.

ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap said in a news conference on Monday that the hacker was a Thai national as the posted messages were in Thai, although declining to elaborate on other findings.

Anudith only explained that the hacker had used an email account of the prime minister to access the Twitter account before changing the premier’s email and Twitter account password.

The minister said his ministry has not ruled out insiders of the Pheu Thai Party and the Prime Minister assistants of their involvement in the incident, noting that concerned authorities are gathering as much evidence as possible to nail the culprit.

He said the hacker is liable to some five years in prison and a fine of up to 100,000 baht. (TNA)
