GPO inks agreement with private Japanese company for influenza vaccine technology transfer
BANGKOK, October 3 (TNA) - The Government Pharmaceutical Organization of Thailand (GPO) and a private Japanese company have signed an agreement for influenza vaccine technology transfer.
Public Health Minister Witthaya Buranasiri and Masato Otaka, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs of the Japanese embassy in Thailand, on Monday presided over a signing ceremony of the agreement between the GPO and Japanese Kaketsuken Company.
Under the agreement, Kaketsuken will transfer needed technology for influenza vaccine production covering both inactivated and live attenuated vaccines to the GPO.
Meanwhile, construction is 50 percent complete on a vaccine manufacturing plant located in Thap Kwang district of Saraburi Province. Once fully constructed, it would be able to produce 2 million doses of the inactivated vaccines within 2014, and 10 million doses in years to come, making the country to become more self reliance on vaccine production.
