UN SAYS INDONESIA SUCCESSFUL IN CONSOLIDATING PEACE
Jakarta, Sept 24 (ANTARA) - The United Nations said here Indonesia has successfully consolidated peace and prevented conflicts in the past test.
The judgment was submitted by the UN representative for Indonesia El Mustafa Benlamlih on behalf of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon during the Peace Day jubilee in Jakarta, Tuesday (Sept 23).
"The people and government of Indonesia must be proud of what had been done in the past ten years and its contribution to global peace," Benlamlih read the massage to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the cabinet.
"Indonesia had successfully gone through a transition to democracy," he added.
Indonesia also had established decentralization of the local governments, solved conflicts in several areas and used local potentials effectively.
The UN Secretary general in the commemoration of World Peace Day on September 21 had sent his massage to all the leaders in the world to unite and fight against conflicts and hunger, and fight for human rights.
