EXXONMOBIL HANDS HEALTH CENTERS TO LOCAL ADMINISTRATION

Banda Aceh, Sept 24 (ANTARA)- Exxonmobil and Save The Children handed two health facilities in the form of Sub Community Health Centers (Puskesmas Pembantu or Pustu) to local authorities in Lhokseumawe, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province, to help meet the local people's need for medical services.
Save The Children spokesperson in Aceh, Ade Ilyasak, said the two health facilities were handed by the head of the Lhokseumawe office of Save The Children , Husaini Ismail, to the head of the local health office, Syaifuddin Saleh, on Tuesday (Sept 23).

One of the two sub community health centers is located in Kuala Meuraxa village and consists of five rooms and two toilets with a capacity to serve 286 men, 239 women, 1,778 boys and 184 girls.

The other center, located in Pusong Lama village, consists of five rehabilitation roooms and three toilets with a capacity to serve 1,148 men, 1,131 women, 956 boys and 939 girls.

The centers are fitted with Pustu-standard medical equipment, bedroom facilities and kitchens for the local midwife who will live in.

As mentioned at the handover, until the end of 2008, the two foreign donors would set up sub community health centers in 7 more villages in Lhokseumawe.

Ade said Exxonmobil and Save The Children appreciated the sincere support Lhokseumawe people had given to their initiative so that the work to set up the health facilities, school buildings, to rehabilitate people's housing could be done smoothly.

Furthermore, the two donors hoped the local people would maintain the health facilities properly so that they would remain useful to the people now and the next generations.
