TAMU-Q Honors Local & International Partners



Doha, October 01 (QNA) - Texas A&M University at Qatar hosted the annual Shukran from TAMU-Q to honor its supporters inside and outside Qatar at the top of them HE the Deputy Premier and Chief of Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah.
The event, sponsored by Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO), recognized and thanked the partners in industry, government and the local community that supported the University during the past year. This included over 80 companies and individuals from Qatar and the GCC.
HE Al-Attiyah said, "Hand in hand, we work toward our mutual goal of educating and inspiring the youth and paving the way to a bright future for our people. I have been a part of Texas A&M University at Qatar since 2003 and have watched 5 graduating classes enter in the world of engineering. I look forward to witnessing and being part of many such future successes with Texas A&M at Qatar."
HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada said, "The wise directive of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser emphasizes that the best investment in Qatari human development is in higher education, the primary building block of a knowledge-based Qatari society.
"I firmly believe that organizational success is always a team effort, one that involves many parties working together toward a common goal. Our mutual goal is creating a population of educated youth to lead our country. The world-class education offered at Texas A&M University at Qatar has produced exceptional engineers, who are currently prospering in Qatar and internationally. Supporting education in our community is a duty for each of us. I encourage you all to continue the outstanding work you are doing in supporting the development of the State of Qatar."
Dean and CEO of Texas A&M at Qatar Dr Mark Weichold said, "Texas A&M at Qatar s mission is strongly tied to the local industry, government and community members whom we recognize and thank at this event. Through building closer ties to these entities, the University is better able to develop exemplary engineers, generate new knowledge and serve the needs of the State of Qatar. The past year has seen remarkable progress towards fulfilling this mission, as evidenced by important steps such as the opening of the University s graduate studies program.

Shukran from Texas A&M at Qatar was organized by the Office of Student and Community Relations (OSCR) at the University.
Texas A&M University, recognized as having one of the premier engineering programs in the world, has offered undergraduate degrees in chemical, electrical, mechanical and petroleum engineering at Qatar Foundation s Education City campus since 2003 and graduate degrees in chemical engineering since 2011. Two hundred engineers have graduated from Texas A&M at Qatar since 2007. In addition to engineering courses, Texas A&M at Qatar provides classes in science, mathematics, liberal arts and the humanities. All four of the engineering programs offered at Texas A&M at Qatar are accredited by ABET
