SUNCON BAGS RM1.8 BLN CONTRACT FROM MUBADALA CAPITALAND
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SunCon) has
received a contract from Mubadala CapitaLand Real Estate LLC worth RM1.8 billion
(US$1=RM3.4)to construct the main building works for Rihan Heights in Abu Dhabi.
Under the contract, SunCon would be involved in the construction of five
residential towers, a three-level podium, 14 townhouses, a clubhouse and 1,208
car park spaces as well as landscaping, service and external works.
"The contract will boost SunCon's order book to approximately RM3.3 billion
of which more than 60 percent will be from overseas project," its senior
managing director Tan Kia Loke said in a statement here Wednesday.
SunCon, which is a unit of Sunway Holdings Bhd, says its current
orderbook would keep it busy for the next three years.
As to date, SunCon has projects in Singapore, India, Trinidad and
Tobago.
According to Tan, the Abu Dhabi government is committed to non-oil economic
diversification which is expected to reach 60 percent in 2013, through
investments and projects in agriculture, industry, real estate and service
sectors.
This provides excellent opportunities for SunCon to further build its brand
reputation in the international construction market, he said.
