Thai troops deployed in flood-hit areas

BANGKOK, September 30 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Army has deployed more than 10,000 troops, along with some 500 vehicles and 100 boats, in the country's 23 flood-hit provinces to assist local affected people.

Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha told reporters of the move on Friday morning before travelling to inspect the flooding situation in the country's central Lopburi Province, saying that a disaster relief centre under the 1st Army Area Command has worked with authorities concerned to hand out assistance to flood victims.

According to the Thai army-commander-in-chief, a dozen of army mobile medical teams have also been dispatched to flood-stricken areas to take care of local affected-people. (TNA)
