Thai PM orders ministers to spend the night in sunken cities
BANGKOK, September 29 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has ordered 12 cabinet ministers to stay overnight in 12 provinces severely hit by flooding where they will coordinate flood relief.
Yingluck said on Thursday that the 12 ministers will report directly to her while working with provincial governors and defense troops stationed in the areas. She noted this will enable the government to respond to changing situations more effectively.
Yingluck affirmed that her government will strictly follow the “2P 2R” concept in coping with floods, under clear sightlines of responsibilities with concerned officials in an integrated manner.
Of the 12 cabinet ministers, Deputy Finance Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom and Natural Resources and Environment Minister Preecha Rengsomboonsuk have been assigned to administer operations in the northern province of Chiang Mai. (TNA)
