Thai PM emphasizes on national conciliation

BANGKOK, September 29 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has ordered heads of government agencies throughout the country to promote conciliation of all sectors in their areas.

Permanent Secretary for Justice Kittipong Kittayarak told reporters that the prime minister made the instruction at a meeting with the heads of the government agencies from all across the country, held at Government House in Bangkok on Thursday.

Kittipong, who is a member of an independent fact finding panel for national reconciliation, said the Pheu Thai premier also insisted that her administration will fully support his panel.

Regarding to awaited progress on official compensations to be offered to people or families affected by Thailand's previous political violence, Kittipong acknowledged that the government has set up a remedy panel, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit to follow up the issue and to consider his independent panel's proposals prior to final government decisions, case by case, in the near future.

In response to opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva's demand for a separation between political prisoners and convicted political terrorists, Kittipong said that the separation has been part of his panel's principle framework. (TNA)
