Thailand bags home five medals from 8th Int’l Abilympics
BANGKOK, September 29 (TNA) - Thailand has won five medals from the 8th International Abilympics, held this week in the South Korean capital of Seoul.
Thitirat Yothum, the only Thai gold medalist, said he will present his medal to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand.
The International skills contest for disabled persons drew contestants from over 30 countries across the globe in 40 different divisions.
Thailand has so far obtained one gold medal, one silver, one bronze and two honorable mentions. Thitirat Yothum, who has worked at Thailand’s Bang Sai Arts and Craft Centre, grabbed the gold in the waste reuse competition.
Other winners included Chokdee Lertmongkolsamut, who won silver for micro-controller application, Saravoot Prompakdi, a bronze in poster design, and Satapol Supanidamethas and Duangta Wongjinda, each conferred honorable mentions in electronic assembly and silk painting respectively.
The contest continued on Thursday in six categories including hand knitting, computer assembly, painting, computer programming, wood carving and pottery. (TNA)
