Thai PM implements “2P 2R” concept on floods
BANGKOK, September 28 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has assigned permanent secretaries of four ministries to implement the “2P 2R” concept in handling the country’s devastating floods.
The assignment was made at Wednesday’s video conference at the Thai government’s flood, storm and landslide relief center, with the participation of its regional offices in Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya and Lop Buri Provinces.
During the meeting, Yingluck stressed that disaster-response officials adhere to the “2P 2R” concept, which comprises four pillars on managing floods namely preparation, prevention, response and recovery.
According to the assignment, the permanent secretary for the Prime Minister’s Office will be responsible for the “preparation” front, while the permanent secretaries for public health, interior affairs, and finance will be responsible for “prevention”, “response”, and “recovery”, respectively.
