PM's wealth ranked second in Thai Cabinet

BANGKOK, September 28 (TNA) - Members of the new Thai Cabinet, including Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, have submitted their assets and liabilities reports to the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), as required by the 2007 Constitution, after taking office on August 10, 2011.

The Cabinet's wealth reports, publicized by the NACC on Wednesday, showed that Premier Yingluck, her spouse and her only son own a total net asset of 541.13 million baht, being second to Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi who owns a net asset of 963.50 million baht and becomes the wealthiest minister in the incumbent Pheu Thai Party-led administration.

Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa owns a net asset of 441.65 million baht, ranked third, followed by Defence Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapa who owns a net asset of 380.45 million baht, Justice Minister Police General Pracha Promnog who owns a net asset of 279.09 million baht, ranked fourth and fifth respectively; while Industry Minister Dr. Wannarat Channukul and Deputy Education Minister Surapong Eungampornwilai own their net assets of 238.67 million baht and 216.92 million baht respectively, ranked sixth and seventh.

Energy Minister Pichai Naripthaphan owns a net asset of 193.28 million baht and Deputy Prime Minister Police Captain Chalerm Yubumrung owns a net asset of 178.21 million baht; while Deputy Transport Minister Police Lieutenant General Chatt Kuldiloke, Deputy Finance Minister Wirun Techapaiboon, Deputy Interior Minister Chuchart Hansaward and Finance Minister Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala own their net assets of 174.31 million baht, 166.04 million baht, 123.66 million baht and 113.33 million baht respectively.

Among the 36 new Thai Cabinet members, Deputy Finance Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom and Deputy Transport Minister Kittisakdi Hatthasonkroh own the least net assets of 4.45 million baht and 3.94 million baht respectively. (TNA)
