Thai King advises government on flood resolutions

BANGKOK, September 27 (TNA) - His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has advised the new Thai government on practical approaches to address the country's ongoing floods in vast areas.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra told reporters after having an audience with His Majesty the King at Bangkok's Sirirat Hospital on Monday that she reported the updated flooding situation and sought the royal advice on flood resolutions, noting that the beloved Thai monarch also gave morale support to her administration for attempts to solve flood-related problems and to work for the public.

The Pheu Thai premier said that His Majesty the King's advised measures will be included in the agenda of her Cabinet's upcoming meeting for an official approval and further action.

Prime Minister Yingluck later met a leading clown and chief of Thailand's comedian artists club, Sutha Klanmalee, widely known as Thuarae Churnyim, to discuss a plan to send teams of Thai clowns, together with medical staff, to flood-hit areas to relieve stress of affected people.

According to Thai Public Health Ministry figures, more than 3,000 flood victims across the country are suffering from stress, with over 500 of them being at risk of committing suicide. (TNA)
