SK Telecom to sponsor special coaching staff for Park Tae-hwan
SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's top mobile carrier, said Wednesday it will sponsor a special coaching staff assigned to Beijing swimming gold medalist Park Tae-hwan.
Park has had a coaching staff dedicated to him since last year, backed by a
British swimsuit manufacturer. But the deal is set to expire later this year, and
SK Telecom said it will provide financial support to help maintain the staff
starting next month.
Park, 19, who won the gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle at the Beijing Games
last month to bring his country its first-ever Olympic title in swimming,
recently resumed his training ahead of a national athletic competition scheduled
for next month.
Park, who also won the silver in the 200m freestyle in Beijing, seeks to expand
his titles at the 2012 London Olympics.
