Brownlow WAGs turn heads

SYDNEY (AAP) - While the talk all week was of the flesh that would be on parade, it was Rouba Houli who turned heads on the Brownlow Medal blue carpet with her modest hijab.
The wife of the AFL's only Muslim player, Richmond's Bachar Houli, coupled her golden hijab with a long black dress in stark contrast to some of the Brownlow's most famous outfits over the years, which include necklines plunging to the navel and bejeweled G-strings.
But there were still plenty of revealing outfits to keep the crowd talking.
Brynne Edelsten, wife of former Swans owner and disgraced medico Geoffrey Edelsten, cemented her reputation as the annual Brownlow curiosity with a cream and gold mini dress revealing plenty of cleavage and leg.
Another blue carpet celebrity, Rebecca Judd, wife of Brownlow favourite Chris Judd, was far more demure than in previous years.
Rebecca wore a long golden number with little of the wow factor of her famous red dress of a few years back which had a neckline that became the talk of the town.
Fellow high-profile WAG, Lauren Phillips, arrived alongside boyfriend Gary Ablett in a long silver and white dress and sporting heels as impressive as her partner's glittering career.
Collingwood's Scott Pendlebury entered Crown Palladium as a modest medal chance despite an epic season, and his partner, Alex Davis, kept with the understated theme, opting for navy in contrast to the sea of bright colours.
Nadia Coppolino arrived in a full-length emerald dress, alongside partner Jimmy Bartel, with the former Brownlow medal winner doing his best impression of Mad Men's Donald Draper.
Kylie Brown turned heads in a flowing black and gold gown, then joked that her husband, Brisbane captain Jonathan Brown, was going for the vintage look in his ancient tuxedo.
