MONGOLIA RUNS MEETING OF DEMOCRATIC GROUP
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ As the leader of the Community of Democracy (CD), Mongolia has organized an unofficial Ministerial Meeting of Democratic Countries' Group at the UN. Held September 23 in New York, the meeting ran a discussion themed “Education for Democracy”.
Opening remarks were made by the Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj. In his speech, Ts.Elbegdorj underlined he will work with aspirations to support the priorities for chairing the CD including the education for democracy and to create an environment that is intolerant of corruption and bribes in order to keep the clean governance. Apart of Mongolia the meeting brought together representatives of Lithuania, Hungary, Morocco, Thailand and other countries.
One of the participants, the President of Kyrgyzstan Mrs. Roza Otunbayeva expressed thanks to those countries that support the democratic transportation of Kyrgyzstan. She said Kyrgyzstan wants to study experience of model countries of democracy, especially Mongolia, in development of democracy.
As of present, the Democratic Group's Leading Council has joined the USA, the Republic of Korea, Cape-Verde, Canada, Italy, Mali, Mexico, Mongolia, Nigeria, Morocco, the South Africa, Romania, Hungary, Uruguay, Poland, Portugal, the Philippines, Finland, the Czech Republic, Chile, Sweden, El Salvador, India and Japan.
