Thai PM eyes implementation of “2P 2R” flood solution

BANGKOK, September 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is poised to set up a four-member committee to integrate all sectors in solving flood problems under the “2P 2R” concept.

Speaking to reporters after chairing Monday’s video conference with concerned authorities on the flood situation, Yingluck said she has urged the meeting to adhere to the principle of “2P 2R”--of preparation, prevention, response and recovery--for integrated flood solutions.

The prime minister noted that the government will appoint the committee’s members on Tuesday-- who will be tasked to ensure that flood relief operations and assistance of all affected provinces move in the same direction and toward a common goal, based on the “2P 2R” concept.

On complaints over slow flood assistance, Yingluck said as far as she is concerned, those complaints come from people who seek additional aid beyond the government’s flood relief packages.

Nevertheless, Yingluck said the government will consider all the complaints and suggestions so that it can provide aids which truly reflect public needs. (TNA)
