Qatari Banks Host Reception in Washington
Washington, September 25 (QNA) - Qatari banks have hosted a reception at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), currently in session here.
The function was attended by HE Qatar's Minister Economy and Finance Yousuf Hussein Kamal, HE Governor of Qatar Central (QCB) Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, Board chairmen and members of the Qatari banks as well as a number of senior officials of the Qatar Financial Centre.
It was also attended by senior bankers, a number of decision makers in the financial world as well as high-level officials representing the legislative authorities of various countries.
The event also hosted representatives from governments, financial institutions, diplomatic missions in Washington, major corporations and trade in the region and the world and US business leaders.
The Qatari banks reception ceremony is held annually on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank to promote the State of Qatar, and support its financial sector and build long term relationships with industry leaders around the world to exchange views and multilateral economic debate between officials representing Qatar, Gulf and international banks and decision makers who attended the event.
The Board of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund hold its annual meetings to discuss a range of issues such as reducing rates of poverty and the development of the international economy and finance matters, where these meetings provide a forum for international companies meeting and to enable the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to better serve the Member States.
