S. Korean vice FM to host Ramadan dinner

SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kwon Jong-rak will share the "Iftar" dinner with a group of ambassadors from Islam countries on Thursday, his ministry said.

Iftar refers to the evening meal to break the daily fast during the Islamic month
of Ramadan.
"It will start at 6:25 p.m., when the sunset prayer ends," the ministry said in a
press release.
Also on hand will be dozens of Islamic religious leaders here and related
academic figures, it added.
"The event is part of various efforts to enhance understanding in South Korea of
the Islam world," it said.
South Korea has stepped up efforts to promote ties with Middle Eastern nations.
The Korea-Arab Society was launched last month to seek closer ties between the
two sides.
