Wasit Governor, French ambassador discuss investment in the province

Kut (NINA) – French ambassador to Iraq, Deny Gooier, accompanied with the French Consul to Nasiriya, Adel Al Kanzani, visited the city of Kut to get acquainted with the investment opportunities there.

Wasit Governor, Mahdi Al Zubeidi, discussed during a meeting with the French ambassador, present by a number of local officials, the implementation of a number of projects. The governor invited the French companies to compete with the other world companies to implement reconstruction projects in the province.

Zubeidi said in a press joint conference with the French ambassador “Wasit enjoys good relations with the French companies and it is keen on enhancing these relations, especially in industrial and agricultural domains.”

He added that the French ambassador presented today “a new project to the reclamation of 45000 acres and to grant 50 to 100 million Euros loan which will lead, in case it was implemented, to increase the reclaimed agricultural area and provide more employment opportunities.”

For his part, the French ambassador said “the stable security in Wasit and the entrance of world companies in the oil sector is an encouraging thing to the French companies to implement projects that will be endorsed by the central government in Baghdad and the local one in Wasit.”

He pointed out that the French companies are about to implement a suspension bridge in Kut and start investment in oil sector in the city.
