Cabinet allocates YR 5 bln for Fishery, Agricultural Products Fund

SANA'A, Sep. 23 (Saba) - The Cabinet approved Tuesday allocating YR
Five billion for the budget of the Fund of Promotion for Fishery and
Agricultural Products for the 2008 - 2009.

In its weekly meeting headed by Ali Mujawar, the cabinet reviewed
the report of the Fisheries Wealth Minister on results of the field
visits paid by the ministry's leadership to the coastal governorates
during the period 6 - 28 August.

The report included an analysis of the reality of the fishery sector
and the necessary requirements to advance its infrastructure and
legislative, marketing, control, inspection and traditional fishing
areas to achieve the desired role that influences in the national
economy.

In the light of report, the cabinet approved preparing a new
strategy to upgrade the fishery sector focusing on improve the
fishery resources management, researches, fishery stock study,
inspection, statistics and quality in addition to prepare the
development and investment map.

Moreover, the cabinet asserted on establishing an inclusive
monitoring and inspection system for the countries' regional waters
to reduce the piracy acts and combat smuggling operations as well as
creating a new system for numbering the fishing boats.
