Yemen plans to establish rehabilitation centers for women prisoners

SANA'A, Sep. 23 (Saba) - Head of Prisons Authority Ali Nasser
affirmed on Tuesday the importance of establishing rehabilitation
centers for women prisoners in Yemeni penitentiaries.

Nasser added that the authority seek to benefit from the experiences
of some Arab countries in the field of rehabilitation centers for
female prisoners.

During his meeting with chairwomen of The National Committee for
Women Rashida al-Hamdani, Nasser said that a rehabilitation center
for female prisoners would be set up in the capital Sana'a at cost
YR 120 million funded by the project of Public Works.

He highlighted training and rehabilitation programs provided to the
female prisoners would include sewing and handicrafts.

"We will encourage them to complete their education to be
self-reliant women in the society", said Nasser.
