Saudi Arabia and Yemen finalize agreement to facilitate

Sana'a, September 23, SPA -- Saudi and Yemeni authorities have
finalized agreement to facilitate the flow of Yemeni exports,
particularly agricultural products, to Saudi territories and
neighboring countries, according to a Ministry of Industry and
Commerce senior official.

In a statement, Fadhl Miqbel, Director General of External Trade
Department at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said it has been
agreed that Yemeni trucks, laden with exports, could cross the Saudi
border after passing electronic customs checks to Saudi markets and
neighboring countries including the rest of the Gulf countries and
Syria, Lebanon and Turkey.

"Relevant advanced check devices will be installed at border check
points in March 2009
for this purpose", he said.

He pointed out that a technical committee representing customs
departments in Saudi Arabia and Yemen will be formed to facilitate
customs procedures relating to trade exchange between the two
counties.
