Thailand's flood casualties reach 136

BANGKOK, September 22 (TNA) - The number of casualties from severe flooding in Thailand’s northern and northeastern regions for the past two months has now soared to 136.

Updated reports from the Interior Ministry’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department showed that the 136 casualties include cases of drowning, and two missing persons, while approximately 1.9 million people have been affected by floodwaters, in addition to over five million rai of farmland.

The department acknowledged that 23 provinces are still suffering from floods and advised 15 of the provinces to be on high alert for possible flashfloods over the next few days.

The two northeastern provinces of Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket have also been warned of mudslides over the next one or two days. (TNA)
