Cabinet To Form A Price Monitoring Committee
Doha, September 21 (QNA) - HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud on Wednesday presided over the Cabinet weekly regular meeting held at its headquarters in the Emiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs stated the following:
Based on the directives of HH the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to reduce the unjustified price increases of some commodities and services after the issuance of the Emiri decision No. 50 of 2011 ordering an increase in basic salary, social allowance and pensions of employees and retirees among Qatari civilians and military personnel, working in the state and deal firmly with this phenomenon, which harms the citizens' interests.
The cabinet considered this topic and decided to form a committee at the Ministry of Business and Trade, which will be charged with monitoring the prices of those goods and services and implementing the appropriate mechanisms to maintain their stability.
The Cabinet then considered the topics on the agenda as follows:
First: The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:
1- A draft law on prohibition of biological weapons.
2- A proposal to amend some provisions of Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA)'s regulation on the settlement by arbitration of disputes arising from transactions related to securities.
3- A memo by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the study it has prepared about the joint and specialized committees.
4- A letter by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) on the eighth report on the outcomes of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (February 1 -July 31, 2011).
5- A memo by the National Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations on its annual report 2010 - 2011.
Second: Approving:
1- A draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation on emergency and disaster prevention and response between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Belarus.
2- A draft on Air Service Agreement between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Zambia.
Third: Take the necessary measures to ratify:
1 - An agreement for economic, trade and technical cooperation between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uruguay.
2 - An agreement on economic, trade and technical cooperation between the Governments of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Paraguay.
