CRI NEEDS NEWS FROM ANTARA
Beijing, Sept 23 (ANTARA) - China Radio International (CRI) needs news stories from Indonesia including those produced by the country's national news agency, ANTARA, a CRI official said.
CRI is in need of news stories on Indonesia from the national news agency because the Chinese radio station has no reporter in Indonesia, CRI's Indonesia Department Director, Jin Feng, said here Tuesday.
"We now have a reporter in Singapore who is usually given assignments to Indonesia for coverage of big events or extraordinary happenings like natural disasters," Jin Feng told ANTARA.
CRI was expected to get news stories from ANTARA because Indonesia is a big country which a source of big and important news, he said, adding that his department had actually proposed that CRI has a reporter in Indonesia but no decision has been made yet.
On possible cooperation between CRI and ANTARA, Jin Feng said that the two countries' media could establish possible ties on news and personnel exchange as well as making programs among other things.
As ANTARA is now the president of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA), it is also possible that CRI which has its own training centre organize a training for journalists from OANA member news agencies.
OANA consists of 40 member news agencies from 33 countries in Asia and the Pacific.
"It is a good idea. Just make a proposal for the purpose to see possible funding and facility which we could share and we will bring the expected proposal to the management for further discussion," he said.
ANTARA met Jin Feng on the sidelines of the visit to CRI by journalists and news officials from about 50 developing countries, who are attending a radio and TV seminar taking place in Beijing from September 10 to 24, 2008.
