Thailand bags 13 prizes at ASEAN Energy Awards Night

JERUDONG, September 21 (TNA) - Thailand has won 13 prizes at the ASEAN Energy Awards Night as part of the annual meeting of ASEAN energy ministers in Brunei.

Winning energy projects from 10 ASEAN countries were announced in May after voting panels finalized their say on each country’s nominations. The awards presentation was held Tuesday night to coincide with the ASEAN’s Ministers of Energy Meeting (AMEM) in Jerudong, Brunei Darussalam.

Of 15 Thai-nominated projects, 13 projects grabbed first place, putting Thailand on top of the pack winning the most of the total 32 awards.

The 32 awards fall into three categories; namely, Renewable Energy Project, Best Practices for Energy Management in Buildings and Industries and Best Practices for Energy Efficient Buildings.

Energy Minister of Thailand Pichai Naripthaphan said the international recognition reflected Thailand’s determination to improve its energy sector in line with ASEAN’s roadmap on energy efficiency and renewable energy development. (TNA)
