KNOC, SK Energy to assess oil fields in Colombia

SEOUL, Sept. 23 (Yonhap) -- The Korea National Oil Corp. (KNOC), South Korea's
state-run oil company, and top refiner SK Energy have signed deals to conduct a
feasibility study on two oil fields in eastern Colombia, government officials
said Tuesday.
Under the deals, the two South Korean companies will get rights from the
Colombian government to produce oil if they find crude in the oil fields, the
Ministry of Knowledge Economy said.
KNOC formed a consortium with Argentina's Pluspetrol S.A. for the contract, while
SK Energy joined forces with BHP Billiton Plc, the ministry said.
KNOC holds a 60-percent stake in its consortium, while SK Energy owns a 28.6
percent interest.
