Yusuf told the would-be fishery apprentices at a function in the basement of the Sate Building here, they had been chosen for the program in Japan also to act as good envoys for West Java province.
They were expected to become a source of provincial pride and be able to motivate others to make breakthroughs to improve fishery productivity, he said.
The fishery apprenticeship program in Japan was one way to improve the quality of West Java's fishery's human resources, he said. The program also had strategic significance as it was expected to help create more job opportunities, especially in the fishery sector.

The West Java youths would work as fishery apprentices in Japan for three years but after each year there would be an evaluation of their performance.
