Iran president discusses major issues with UN chief
New York, Sept 23, IRNA President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday discussed with UN chief Ban Ki-moon major regional and international developments including Iran's nuclear dispute and the issue of Palestine.
President Ahmadinejad is currently in New York to attend the 63rd UN
General Assembly annual meeting.
He is to address the UN 63rd General Assembly meeting on Tuesday
evening local time.
Referring to the issue of Palestine, he said in a near future he would
send to the UN secretary general, Iran's initiative to settle the
issue of Palestine by conducting a free referendum throughout the
occupied land.
As for the issue of Iran's peaceful nuclear program, President
Ahmadinejad voiced Tehran's willingness to resolve the problem through
negotiations.
The president stressed that Iranians are in favor of dialogue.
He added that solving Iran's dispute with the West over the country's
peaceful nuclear issue required adoption of a fair attitude by both
sides.
