Talabani, US ambassador discuss bilateral relations

Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani discussed today with the US ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffery, and the Commander of the US forces in Iraq, Gen. Lloyd Austin, that course of relations between Iraq and the US in light of the SOFA reached between the two sides.

A presidential statement mentioned that “Talabani stressed the importance of enhancing these relations in service of the joint interests of the Iraq and American peoples,” calling for encouraging the US companies to work in Iraq in the economic and services domains.

For his part, Jeffery tackled the active role played by Talabani to unite the Iraqi line, a role which helped breaking the ice and bringing viewpoints together in service of the political process and building the new Iraq.

He referred that “Iraqis were and still are in dire need to Talabani’s efforts as they gather all Iraqis’ ambitions.”
