GCC Transport and Railways Conference Opens in October

Doha, September 17 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, the three-day GCC Transport and Railways Conference will begin on 17 October at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha and will coincide with Qatar International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics (TRANS4), organized by Al Baida Group at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
The conference is organized Qatar Railways Company (RAIL) in association with the General Secretariat of the GCC, the Federation of GCC Chambers, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group.
QCCI's Honorary Secretary, head of QCCI's services sector and member of the Conference's organizing committee Ali bin Abdul Latif Al Missned told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the conference will discuss ways of developing the sectors of maritime and air transport, logistics, transportation and railways systems as well as rail and road plans to link between the Gulf States. In addition, it will review the latest developments related to transport sector and transportation systems.
The conference will also discuss GCC plans for the development of road network linkage, particularly railways to enhance the economic and logistical linkage between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council as well as between them and other countries of the world, Al Missned said, adding that the event will review the prospects for coordination among GCC member states' various national plans that aimed at improving rail networks and road linkage systems in the region as well as the expected impact for this investment plans on its economy. Al Missned said ministers of transports, finance and public works in GCC countries along with representatives of regional and global organizations and experts in transport matters as well as leading international companies involved in the implementation of the railway projects around the world and engineering, consulting and contracting firms and finance institutions and regional and international banks are expected to attend the conference.
'Qatar international Exhibition for Transport and Logistics - Trans4', the first and only international exhibition for transport and logistics, will feature the four sectors of activity covering the complete chain: Railways, Shipping, Freight and Logistics, Al Misnned, who is also Chairman of Al Baida Group, said. Trans4 Expo will showcase latest products, technologies and solutions in Transport and Logistics sector, he added.
He said that Trans4 Exhibition has a unique strategic importance as it will be the key business platform for companies wanting to invest and put up a world-class infrastructure and facilities for Transportation and Logistics in the fastest growing economy in the world, revealing that more than 50 Qatari, Gulf and international companies have confirmed its participation.
