Mottaki: Iran supports any initiative to solve Sudanese problem
New York, Sept 23, IRNA Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports any initiative which would help solve the Sudanese problem.
Mottaki said that one-year suspension of the arrest warrant issued in the case of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir by the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) was result of joint efforts of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Arab League and the African Union.
Mottaki made the remark in the joint meeting of the NAM, the OIC, the
AL and the AU, held on common initiative of Iran and Algeria to look
into Sudan problem.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly
annual meeting in New York.
The Iranian top diplomat said that in light of collective efforts of
the NAM, the OIC, the AL and the AU, Muslim states' problems will e
solved and they will be supported in international communities.
He added that in light of the efforts, there will be no injustice and
political pressures in case of the countries.
The OIC Chief Ikmelledin Ihsanoglu said for his part, "We should make
lots of efforts to solve Sudan problem by helping and assisting the
country."
Arab League Chief Amr Moussa too provided the audience with a report
that outlined close cooperation between his League and the African
Union which left great influence in the verdict issued in Sudanese
president's case and fate of Darfur crisis.
He called the meeting a new initiative.
