Qatar Reaffirms Support for Joint Arab Action

Cairo, September 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has reaffirmed its firm support for the joint Arab action and its strong keenness to promote economic and development coordination between all Arab countries.
Addressing the 88th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, which started here Thursday at the Arab League Headquarters, Qatar's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, HE Ambassador Saleh Abdullah Al-Buainain called for enhancing joints efforts to support the social and economic achievements so far implemented; including the liberalization of foreign trade, the implementation of a plan for the Arab Customs Union.
By attaining new accomplishments, Arab countries would be able to build an economic bloc commensurating with their important natural and human resources, said HE the Al-Buainain.
The Arab countries are experiencing a critical situation, that requires immediate concentration of efforts to serve the Arab citizens in the most efficient and effective way possible, improve their social status and standard of living by developing the human capital and the knowledge-based economy to achieve developmental goals of the Arab nations, he continued.
HE Al-Buainain renewed confidence and trust in the ability of the Arab League Secretary-General to follow-up implementation of the resolutions taken by the Arab summits and the Arab League Economic and Social Council (ESC) meant to promote a strategy for a joint Arab social and economic action.
Concluding, Qatar's envoy asserted importance of good preparation for the 3rd Arab Economic and Social Development Summit due in Saudi Arabia in January 2013.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar took over the presidency of the new session from Palestine.
