QCB Governor: No Impact from US, European Debt Crisis on Qatar

Doha, September 15 (QNA) - HE Governor of Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani stressed that the State of Qatar has not affected by the sovereign debt crisis in the US and European countries.
In a statement to Qatari daily "Al Arab", issued on Thursday, QCB's Governor said that the 11th meeting of the GCC Monetary Council board held in Doha yesterday did not raise the issue of the sovereign debt crisis in the West and their effects on the constituent states of the Monetary Council, pointing to the possibility of discussing the issue in the near future with the participation of all GCC states.
All issues of concern to the GCC Monetary Council and the achievements of the previous stage as well as some organizational matters entrusted to the organs and committees of the Council were discussed during yesterday's meeting, he said.
He also said that the Supreme Preparatory Committee, set up by the Monetary Council, is currently working on several topics, including the headquarters agreement between the GCC Monetary Council and the Government of Saudi Arabia and the Council's Financial Regulations.
The QCB's Governor said that there is no specific date has been set for the GCC single currency launch, adding that when all steps required are met in a careful and scientific manner the launch date will be announced.
