The US embassy denies any (secret agreement) for the extension of the US troops stay after 2011
Baghdad (NINA) – The US embassy in Baghdad denied the reports circulated in some Iraqi media that the US ambassador James Jeffery announced a secret agreement that was reached about the American forces stay in Iraq after December 31, 2011.
Spokesperson of the embassy said in a statement today “we have a great desire to have permanent partnership with the Iraqi government and people, the relation with the Iraqi security forces will form an important side in that partnership.”
He added “the talks with the Iraqi government are still on, but, it is wrong to conclude that agreements were reached at the time being.”
