Merit making organised for Thailand's late Princess

BANGKOK, September 14 (TNA) - The government held a merit making ceremony on Wednesday morning for Thailand's late Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana, who passed away on July 27 from blood infection at the age of 85.
At the event, organised at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground to commemorate the 50th day of the passing away of the late Princess, who is the only daughter of Thailand's late King Rama VI, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra led her Cabinet members, senior officials of government and state-run agencies, representatives of various entities and even the general public to offer alms to 186 Buddhist monks.
Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra said after attending the event that his Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will join the government in organising a similar merit making event again on November 3 to observe the 100th day of the passing away of the late Thai Princess.
M.R. Sukhumbhand also publicly reported on progress of the construction of a royal crematorium for the late Princess at Sanam Luang, saying that his City Authority has liaised with the Culture Ministry’s Fine Arts Department and is ready to fully facilitate and support the work to ensure the perfect completion of the royal crematorium, as a greatest honour offered to the late Princess without affecting Sanam Luang's underground drainage system.
