HE PM Says: No Peace Until a Palestinian State is Recognized
Cairo , September 13 (QNA) - HE Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani who is also Chairman of the 136th session of the Arab League Council's Ministerial meeting has affirmed on Tuesday that comprehensive, just and lasting peace will not be achieved until Israel fully withdraws from the Occupied Arab territories based on the borders of June 4th, 1967 and the establishing of the independent Palestinian State with East Al Quds /Jerusalem/ as its capital.
He called upon the international community to interfere and stop the Israeli attacks gainst the Palestinian people and lifting the "unjust" siege clamped on the Gaza strip and take a strong position to forcing Israel to adhere to the resolutions of international legitimacy.
HE the Qatari Prime Minister expressed his thanks and gratitude to the nations that recognized the state of Palestine as a state enjoying sovereignty over the borders of June 4th, 1967 with East Al Quds /Jerusalem/ as its capital . He also aspired for supporting the bid of the State of Palestine for UN membership and called upon in the meantime all Palestinian political groups to apply the national reconciliation accord signed in Cairo on May 4th of this year, and speed up the formation of a Palestinian national government .
He added that this year's meeting is held amidst local, regional and international circumstances that facing the Arab nations. He said that the most prominent of these circumstances are the developments in the Palestinian issue, particularly the stumbling of the middle east peace process and Israel's continuing building of thousands of settlements in East Al Quds and the occupied Palestinian territories, the matter which constitutes a continuation of the Israeli policies evading of the peace obligations plus the Israeli recurrent acts of aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister noted that the Arab peoples have become today more approaching to each other in view of the increasing common awareness to the need to reform and realizing social justice via stepping up interaction and interrelation the matter which ''makes it imperative on all of us to set up and open all channels of positive dialogue which serve needs of these people and avoid political tension and congestion through launching the required reform process.
HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabor Al Thani sasid,'' In this concern, we express profound sorrow and regret to the events which the brotherly Arab Republic of Syria sustains ... Henceforth we affirm our due keenness to maintain security ,stability and unity of Syria and view that the solution lies in stopping the use of weapon, putting an end to bloodshed and resorting to wisdom and dialogue... the matter which requires the full application of the initiative adopted by the Arab League Council during its extraordinary session held in Cairo on 28/08/2011 , said HE the Premier and Foreign Minister .
He further said ,'' We express our deep concern at the continuing situation in sisterly Yemen and therefore we call upon all parties concerned to adhere to self -restraint to keep Yemen away from more violence calling upon all parties there to jointly act for create the adequate circumstances to realize the aspirations of the Yemeni people to reform and dignified life.
HE the Prime Minister And Foreign Minister congratulated the yemeni people for realizing their will and options and voiced confidence in their ability to undertake with responsibility the missions of the new era in an atmosphere of national unity, cohesion , reconciliation and supremacy of law, away from the spirit of revenge and settlement of accounts to build a modern state enjoying security and stability with the Yemeni people enjoying and living in welfare and prosperity.
Concerning the Sudanese affair, HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said, "While we welcome the establishment of the State of South Sudan , we wish for this friendly country to exercise its role effectively as a member of the international community, and we hope that the prevailing relationship of good neighborliness between the two neighbors, Sudan and South Sudan, for the benefit of their peoples and achieve security and stability in the region.
With regard to the situation in Somalia, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al-Thani, said, "We should not forget what some of our peoples are suffering from ordeals and difficulties especially in Somalia, particularly as relarted to the crisis of drought, and call for combining our efforts with that of the international community to provide the required support for the relief of the affected.
''We in the meantime commend the efforts exerted on part of the Arab countries, the Arab League , the United Nations and the other humanitarian organizations to alleviate suffering, reiterating anew our support for the security, stability and unity of Somalia and call upon all the Somali parties to give priority to the higher interest of the Somali people for the preservation of their national unity''.
HE the Prime Minister And Foreign Minister has opened his address and conveyed profound thanks and appreciation to Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah , the Minister in Charge of Foreign Affairs in the sisterly Sultanate of Oman for the faithful and tireless efforts he exerted while chairing the 135th ordinary session of the Arab League Council the matter which has much contributed to consolidating and enhancing pan-arab action.
HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani further said,'' we while appreciating the engagament of the brethren in Palestine in this period and the assumption by the State of Qatar of chairmanship of this session , we hope the State of Palestine would chair the forthcoming session"". (QNA)
