Saudi Arabia celebrates 78th anniversary of its National Day 5

SPA - In March 2007, the Kingdom hosted the 19th Arab summit which issued the declaration of Riyadh. The declaration underlined the importance of giving priority to the development of educational syllabuses in the Arab world as well as development of joint Arab works in the educational, cultural and scientific spheres in addition to spreading the culture of moderation, tolerance, dialogue and openness.


The declaration rejected all forms of terrorism, extremism and
called for making the region free from weapons of mass-destruction.
It reiterated the right of the countries to acquire nuclear energy
for peaceful purposes.


King Abdullah's visits to some fraternal and friendly countries were
of positive results on the march of the Arab solidarity and the
global peace and security.


King Abdullah visited China, India, Malaysia, Pakistan as well as
Morocco, Spain, France, Poland, Egypt and Jordan and other countries
including Britain, Italy, Germany and Egypt.


As regards the Palestinian problem, King Abdullah, when he was the
Crown Prince, presented at Beirut summit in 2002 a vision for the
settlement of the problem. It was named 'Prince Abdullah bin
Abdulaziz Project for Peace'. His proposals were accepted at the Arab
and international arenas and were approved by the Arab summits.


At the Arab summit held in Cairo in October 2000, he proposed the
establishment of a fund for Al-Quds Intifada with a capital of $200
million, and Al-Aqsa Fund with capital of $800 million. He pledged
that the Kingdom will contribute 25 percent of the two funds' budget.


In 2006, he ordered the allocation of $250 million for the
reconstruction of Palestine.
He also called on the Palestinian leaders to hold a meeting near the
Holy Kaaba for settling their dispute without the intervention of any
party.
