Apple Inc. ranked world's most popular company

BANGKOK, September 13 (TNA) - Globally-recognised Fortune Magazine has ranked US-based Apple Inc. the world's most popular company; while enlisting Japan-based Toyota Motor Corporation the most popular business firm in Asia and the Pacific.

Tachacha Puangpornsri, senior advisor of HayGroup Co. Ltd. told reporters on Tuesday that her global business consulting firm had jointly worked out with Fortune Magazine to rank world and regional most popular companies in 2011, the 14th of its kind.

Tachacha announced that Apple Inc. had been put on top of the list of the world's most popular company in 2011, followed by Google Inc., Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Southwest Airlines, Procter & Gamble Public Company Limited and Coca Cola Company, all are based in the United States.

For Asia and the Pacific, Tachacha acknowledged, Japan's Toyota Motor Corporation had been ranked top, followed by South Korea-based Samsung Electronics Public Company Limited, Singapore Airlines, US-based Canon Inc. and Japan-based Sony Corporation.

The HayGroup's senior advisor said that the world and the regional rankings were based on nine-criteria qualifications, including innovation, human resource management, business asset utilisation, social responsibility, business management quality, financial stability, long-term investment potential, quality of products and services and business competitiveness, noting that business firms entitled for Fortune Magazine's ranking are to all earn at least 10 billion US dollars revenues each.
