Qatar to Host 24th World LP Gas Forum on Sept.26

Doha, September 12 (QNA)- Under the aegis of HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry and supported by Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Company Ltd (Tasweeq), Qatar is hosting the 24th World LP Gas Forum from September 26-29, 2011. The Forum is being held
The Forum is being held in the GCC Region for the first time and is titled Delivering a Future of Exceptional Energy encouraging countries to shift from high carbon producing fuels to LPG.
For his part, Chief Executive Officer, Tasweeq,Saad Al-Kuwari, said, "Over the years, the World LP Gas Forum has attained the reputation of being a foremost voice within the LPG Industry. It has gathered the expertise at attracting some of the world leaders from the LPG Industry to discuss and update the attendees of the trends and concerns faced by the world in relation to the LPG Sector."
Since, Qatar is the largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) producer in the world since 2010, the country s LPG output will also increase proportionally to approximately 11 million tonnes by the end of 2012, making Qatar one of the world s leading LPG exporting countries.
Al-Kuwari added, "The LPG Industry is set to scale newer heights with countries around the world realising the significance of adopting green energy. The World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) has constantly reached out to varied markets in both developed and developing countries, encouraging the shift to LPG. Qatar s strategic geographic location connects us with prime markets such as the Far East and the Indian Sub-Continent."
The Forum will be officially inaugurated by HE Dr. Al-Sada on September 27, 2011 at 9.00am in the presence of eminent personalities from Energy Sector. The Forum highlights are keynote speeches by Mr. John Corben from the International Energy Agency presenting on "The Golden Age of Gas , and Ms Karen Agustiawan, Pertamina.
The Forum has an array of interesting sessions on topics such as Uniting the Industry (Bring together leaders from the industry worldwide from up-stream and down-stream business to discuss and debate their common vision); Global Outlook for LP Gas until 2030 (Experts will explore the outlook for LP Gas demand until 2030); Supply, Trading and Price (Address issues like the increasing crude prices, volatile geopolitical situations and the promise of a gas glut in the near future impacting on the future supply, trading and price of LP Gas); The Middle East LP Gas Market (Leaders from major companies in the region will present their views on the development of demand in the middle east to address whether, with a near 50% increase in consumption in the last 5 years, the regional Middle East LP Gas market is set for continuing growth).
Other interesting conferences will be featured at the Forum such as Global Technology Conference and the First Global Autogas Summit.
The WLPGA will present the inaugural Best Practices Award to International Energy Services (IES) P/L from Melbourne, Australia. John McMillan will receive the award on behalf of IES during the WLPGA Best Practices Focus Sessions in Doha immediately before the WLPGA World Forum on September 26, 2011. The WLPGA will also announce the WLPGA Innovation Award winner during the Forum.
The Forum is sponsored by local and international companies in the following order: Platinum (Tasweeq, Qatar Petroleum, Total, ExxonMobil); Gold (Qatar Gas, RasGas, Shell, Conoco Phillips, Pertamina, SHV Energy); Silver (Woqod, Ragasco); Bronze (Nakilat, Rochester Gauges Inc, Integrated Gas Technologies, REGO Europe).
It is worth mentioning that Tasweeq was incorporated in July 2007 as an independent company wholly-owned by the State of Qatar. It aims to be the world s pre-eminent petroleum marketing company and delivers Regulated Products exported from Qatar, such as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), condensate products, Sulphur and refined products such as naphtha, motor gasoline jet fuel. Recently, Tasweeq also started marketing QP s crude oil entitlements under an agency agreement with QP and are considered as Non-Regulated Products.
Whereas the World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) is the authoritative voice of the global LP Gas industry representing all sectors of the industry. WLPGA s primary aim is to add value to the sector through driving premium demand for LP Gas, while promoting compliance to good business and safety practices.
It brings together private and public companies involved in one, several, or all activities of the industry, develops partnerships with international organisations and implements projects on local and global scales.
