Zico attends match in Al Shaab stadium
Baghdad (NINA) – Member of the Iraqi Football Association, Kamil Zghair, announced that the National Football Team’s coach, Zico, will attend a friendly match in Al Shaab stadium next week.
Zghair said to NINA “the match will take place between the alternate team that was formed last week VS the youth team or any of the Iraqi premier league teams.
He went on saying that the match is a chance for Zico to get to know the Iraqi players’ potentials. It is also a chance to the Iraqi Association to lift the football blockade on Iraq.
Zghair explained that Zico will “arrive in Baghdad on the 17th of September to finish the final steps of signing the contract. He will also go to Tashkent to attend a match between the Iraqi and Uzbek Olympic teams on September 21, in the qualifiers of the London Olympic Games on 2012.
The Iraqi Football Association contracted with Zico to coach the national team for one year for $2.5 million.
