Kurdish MP: Kurdistan cannot negotiate holding a US military base

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the Taghier (Change) slate, Bayazeed Hasan, said that Kurdistan cannot negotiate holding a permanent military base for the US troops, pointing out that holding such a base cannot take place without the central government’s approval.

Hasan told NINA correspondent today that “the central government signed an agreement with the American side to withdraw their troops and not to keep any US military base in Iraq, any talk about negotiations between the region and the US about holding a military base is void.”

Hasan declared that the “American forces’ withdraw will leave two potentials; there will be a security void and it would allow outlaws to arouse violence in the country, or, the political blocs could ally and give up their demands in order to fill the security gap,” demanding the political blocs to avoid political disputes in service of Iraq and its people.
